Name: Rob aka Bobby

Occupation: I work in the nhs, in mental health, I love the idea of caring for people, I love the self satisfaction that I have made changes to someone's day. As a whole I worked in care for the past 9 years and love it.

I am also now a level 3 trained sports massage therapist.

Who are you as a person: a fun loving individual, who loves meeting new people, I love making people laugh and bringing a bit of goofiness and stupidity.

What's your favourite sport: football ( i will not share who i support, it may affect my client base) 🀦🏾‍β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚.

Favourite food: anything carribean, curry related.

Who is your idol: I have two, Billy sharp ( footballer) and Ant middleton( Book author, best known for channel 4 sas who dares wins).

Favourite holiday destination: I have not being many places, well not as much as most people, however I love Jamaica.

Favourite Animal: i would love to own a bearded dragon, they just look cool 😎.

Favourite alcoholic bevarage: it has to be rum all the way. ( then I am ready to party for sure πŸ•ΊπŸΎ).

Hobbies: watching football ( I can't play it for the life of me). I love to keep active so the gym it is when I can. I like also watching boxing, athletics and on occasion stick my head into rugby even though i ain't got a clue on the rules.

Why sports massage: because I already love caring for people, what better than to add to it, helping to prevent injuries as well as learning cool things about the human body. Through my time working in any job, especially working in mental health,I have seen so many aches, strains and people just trying to recover from injuries that have come from every day life. It's not nice having to see this and not being able to help. Well now I can. People seem to think us sports massage therapists only treat sports professionals. Thats not true,we treat about 80% off people in non related sports occupations. Nothing makes me more happier knowing this.

Did you do well at school: I attended, i tried, I hated maths, I went to my exams but I probably should of not been so much of a class clown.

Favourite colour: red (a clue to my favourite football team).

Future plans: finish my Pt diploma off and keep developing in other areas and growing ( we rest when dead right?)

Why is sports massage the future and why do you want to get involved?

Massage as being proven to have so many benefits. Wether you are suffering with aches, pains, strains or niggles, I can help you with these.

People seem to think that sport massage is only for individuals that participate in an active lifestyle. This is not completely true.

Over 80% of returning clients are actually those from everyday jobs. As the retirement age continues to get longer and longer,as our jobs get more demanding and challenging,it's our bodies that take the hit.

Massage treatments can help with a various aspects of daily life including some of the following;

  • Increased joint range of motion (ROM)
  • Increased flexibility.
  • Decreased muscle tension.
  • Decreased neurological excitability (nerves more relaxed)
  • Decreased muscle spasms.
  • Increased sense of well-being.
  • Decreased anxiety and improved mood.
  • Better sleep.
  • Better mental health.
